clandestine, covert, and black operations

Clandestine Operation: an operation sponsored or conducted by governmental departments or agencies in such a way as to assure secrecy or concealment. Typically an Intelligence or Military's operation. A clandestine operation differs from a covert operation in that emphasis is placed on concealment of the operation rather than on concealment of the identity of the sponsor.
Covert operation: an operation that is so planned and executed as to conceal the identity of or permit plausible denial by the sponsor. It is intended to create a political effect which can have implications in the military, intelligence or law enforcement arenas. CIA tends to lead a Covert Operation under the United States law.
Black Operation: a covert operation by a government, a government agency, or a military organization. This can include activities by private companies or groups. A black operation typically involves activities that are highly clandestine and often outside of standard military/intelligence protocol or even against the law.
